Be wise than aggressive...

Character is one of the four characteristics of successful leaders. Sometimes, expressing it can take the courage of your convictions

"General Powell, I understand that your wife once suffered from depression, had to take medicine, and was even in a mental hospital. Do you want to comment on that?"

The 8,000-strong audience filling the Dallas Civic Auditorium was aghast. Everyone went quiet. They could hardly believe their ears. Colin Powell then considered a serious contender for the Presidential nomination was delivering a stirring, inspiring keynote address. His audience: a leading residential real estate company's top producers.
He faced an uphill battle with this crowd. They listened politely enough, but you'd be hard pressed to imagine Powell's impact having a lasting effect. After all, these were the best deal makers of a profession not known to be circumspect, but who instead appeared to take pride in their "transaction myopia," namely - find the deal, get the deal, do the deal, next deal.

During the Q&A period, a man asked the above question. Inappropriate is too kind a word for his off-the-wall question. Everyone wondered how Powell would react. Would he be politically correct and say that he was glad the man asked the question to make the point that mental illness should be treated with parity to medical illness? Would he ignore the man? Or would he bring back memories of Edmund Muskie throwing away his presidential hopes 25 years earlier when his wife was similarly attacked, causing the Maine senator to cry?

He looked firmly at the man and responded: "Excuse me sir, the person you love more than anyone is living in hell and you don't do whatever you can to get her out? Do you have a problem with that, sir?" One could hear a pin drop. Everyone felt Powell's values and principles fuse into deeply felt conviction. Talk about leadership! I said to myself, "I would buy a used country from that guy."

Learning from Colin Powell on that day; the incident is one of the best examples for how one can command respect through demonstrating. When you are wise and wrap aggression, it gives you the conviction to stand up to anyone. If in the heat of the moment, you're tempted to react quickly, Instead of doing that, be wise and do the following:

Step 1 Think of the first thing you want to say or do and don't do it (this is about retaliation)

Step 2 Think of the second thing you want to say or do and don't do it (this is about starting a debate)
Step 3 Think about the third thing you want to say or do and do it (this is about finding a solution).

"Your character is the anchor that grounds you, the compass that guides you, and the magnet that draws others to you. Being aware of your character gives you confidence and increases the probability of achieving your desired results."

Soar Beyond your Fears!!!

Once there was a king who received a gift of two magnificent falcons from Arabia. They were peregrine falcons, the most beautiful birds he had ever seen. He gave the precious birds to his head falconer to be trained.
Months passed and one day the head falconer informed the king that though one of the falcons was flying majestically, soaring high in the sky, the other bird had not moved from its branch since the day it had arrived.
The king summoned healers and sorcerers from all the land to tend to the falcon, but no one could make the bird fly. He presented the task to the member of his court, but the next day, the king saw through the palace window that the bird had still not moved from its perch. Having tried everything else, the king thought to himself, "May be I need someone more familiar with the countryside to understand the nature of this problem." So he cried out to his court, "Go and get a farmer."
In the morning, the king was thrilled to see the falcon soaring high above the palace gardens. He said to his court, "Bring me the doer of this miracle."
The court quickly located the farmer, who came and stood before the king. The king asked him, "How did you make the falcon fly?"
With his head bowed, the farmer said to the king, " It was very easy, your highness. I simply cut the branch where the bird was sitting."
We are all made to fly -- to realize our incredible potential as human beings. But instead of doing that, we sit on our branches, clinging to the things that are familiar to us. The possibilities are endless, but for most of us, they remain undiscovered. We conform to the familiar, the comfortable, the mundane. So for the most part, our lives are mediocre instead of exciting, thrilling and fulfilling.

So let us learn to destroy the branch of fear we cling to and free ourselves to the glory of flight.

From the Book "Why walk when you can fly"

SO ARE YOU THINKING OF FLYING??????

THEN GO AHEAD & FLY.........
Have a Fabulous day and Fantastic weekend :)

10 Reasons – Why Osama Bin Laden got killed?

Because:

- Manmohan Singh is not President of US.

- Barack Obama doesn’t take permission from Sonia Ji.

- He was not hiding in India. Our system is unable to find a Chief Minister in own country, can you expect them to find Osama.

- He didn’t surrender himself to Indian government. This government is not able to give death sentence to already arrested and proven guilty Ajmal Kasab and Afzal Guru after years. Osama could have spent a lifetime here.

- CBI was not incharge of investigation and operation. They are busy in saving Kanimozhi, Kalmadi and Raja.

- Amar Singh didn’t leak the tape of Obama’s phone.

- In Pakistan, he was not in minority community, so no human right activist and secular journalist came to save him.

- He didn’t meet Ekta Kapoor. She could have given him tips to be alive again.

- He didn’t request Rajnikant to save him.

- Last but not the least. He trusted Pakistan.

Thought of the day: No one is safe in Pakistan.....not even Osama Bin Laden. Everyone is safe in India......even Ajmal Kasab!!

The damn worst politics and management of India......

One of the worst day of my life :-(

Today was one the most disappointed day of my life. IGate Patni conducted cricket fest 2011 and i was playing for "Pirates" team and we had already won 2 matches. Today, it was our 3rd match and with this victory we were supposed to enter quarter finals. But things went in vain, Similar to Chennai 600028 movie, even our team played so badly. First wicket fell in the very first ball itself and i was also duck out in the very 3rd delivery of the innings. In 6 overs we could only manage to score a total of 31 which was the lowest total of the season. The opponents "On the Rocks" had to score only 32 runs to win the match and it was very easy. First over was bowled by our skipper and he went for 15 runs in which 9 runs was extras. Second over also went for 15 runs in which 5 runs was from extras. in just 2 overs they scored 30 runs and 2 runs needed to win the match with 10 wickets on hand and 4 overs to go. I got the 3rd over to bowl, there was nothing left to defend as they required only 2 runs to win, but i wanted to take 1 wicket at least so that we can restrict them from telling that they won with no loss. First ball was an slip catch for keeper, but he failed to take it. Getting disappointed i bowled a wide and finished the match for them. On the Rocks won the match by 10 wickets. It was the most frustrating loss for me. For this loss: i spoiled my weekend sleep, skipped my breakfast and was out in sun :-(

Apart from this, my home teams Royal Challengers Bangalore failed to lift the cup in IPL 2011 finals. Defending champions Chennai Super Kings batted first and belted every bowler and made a total of 205 runs. In reply to this, Royal Challengers Bangalore could not even reach at least 150 runs. They lost the match very badly. This was my another disappointment of the day.

Todays action

Ahhhhh!!! today was one of the day that had lot of actions. First thing is, it is Saturday. I slept at around 3:15 A.M. and woke up around 11:05 A.M.

After readying myself, i went straight away to my office and had my breakfast cum Lunch at 12:00 P.M. After this next place i visited was Employee Care Center (ECC). I was there till 6:00 P.M. where i played pool from 12:25 P.M. till 4:30 P.M. I enjoyed myself there, sometimes played very good shoots and sometimes worst shots. Victory and defeat as well. After coming out from pool table, i landed at GYM where i did workout for my back for 45 minutes with little bit exercises for my abs. Once i was done with my workout, straight away went to dormitory removed my gym clothes and wore my swimming costume and went for swimming. Did swimming for 15 min and was back to dormitory where i took bath.  Then i dressed up went to canteen and had some juices just to energize myself as i was fully exhausted.

Then i went to my ODC and rested for 25 min at my desk. During this time i unlocked my PC and started checking for mails and blogs. At 6:45 P.M. i left office, took my bike and left to home. After coming home, i spent some time on Facebook. Meanwhile, the IPL match started which was between Delhi Daredevils and Kings XI Punjab. The match so interesting that i spent almost all the time watching the match itself. In entire 40 overs, there were 433 runs scored in total by both the teams. Plenty of sixes and fours and full excitement and masti. Finally had my dinner at Andhra Mess and came back home and watched the remaining match. Delhi Daredevils won the match. Now i am lying on my bed and writing this article to publish it to everyone.

We all think eating fruits means just buying fruits, cutting it and just popping it into our mouths. It's not as easy as you think. It's important to know how and when to eat.
What is the correct way of eating fruits?
IT MEANS NOT EATING FRUITS AFTER YOUR MEALS! * FRUITS SHOULD BE EATEN ON AN EMPTY STOMACH.

If you eat fruit like that, it will play a major role to detoxify your system, supplying you with a great deal of energy for weight loss and other life activities.
FRUIT IS THE MOST IMPORTANT FOOD. Let's say you eat two slices of bread and then a slice of fruit. The slice of fruit is ready to go straight through the stomach into the intestines, but it is prevented from doing so.
In the meantime the whole meal rots and ferments and turns to acid. The minute the fruit comes into contact with the food in the stomach and digestive juices, the entire mass of food begins to spoil....
So please eat your fruits on an empty stomach or before your meals! You have heard people complaining — every time I eat watermelon I burp, when I eat durian my stomach bloats up, when I eat a banana I feel like running to the toilet, etc — actually all this will not arise if you eat the fruit on an empty stomach. The fruit mixes with the putrefying other food and produces gas and hence you will bloat!
Graying hair, balding, nervous outburst, and dark circles under the eyes all these will NOT happen if you take fruits on an empty stomach.
There is no such thing as some fruits, like orange and lemon are acidic, because all fruits become alkaline in our body, according to Dr. Herbert Shelton who did research on this matter. If you have mastered the correct way of eating fruits, you have the Secret of beauty, longevity, health, energy, happiness and normal weight.

When you need to drink fruit juice - drink only fresh fruit juice, NOT from the cans. Don't even drink juice that has been heated up. Don't eat cooked fruits because you don't get the nutrients at all. You only get to taste. Cooking destroys all the vitamins.
But eating a whole fruit is better than drinking the juice. If you should drink the juice, drink it mouthful by mouthful slowly, because you must let it mix with your saliva before swallowing it. You can go on a 3-day fruit fast to cleanse your body. Just eat fruits and drink fruit juice throughout the 3 days and you will be surprised when your friends tell you how radiant you look!
KIWI: Tiny but mighty. This is a good source of potassium, magnesium, vitamin E & fiber. Its vitamin C content is twice that of an orange.
APPLE: An apple a day keeps the doctor away? Although an apple has a low vitamin C content, it has antioxidants & flavonoids which enhances the activity of vitamin C thereby helping to lower the risks of colon cancer, heart attack & stroke.

STRAWBERRY: Protective Fruit. Strawberries have the highest total antioxidant power among major fruits & protect the body from cancer-causing, blood vessel-clogging free radicals.
ORANGE : Sweetest medicine. Taking 2-4 oranges a day may help keep colds away, lower cholesterol, prevent & dissolve kidney stones as well as lessens the risk of colon cancer.
WATERMELON: Coolest thirst quencher. Composed of 92% water, it is also packed with a giant dose of glutathione, which helps boost our immune system. They are also a key source of lycopene — the cancer fighting oxidant. Other nutrients found in watermelon are vitamin C & Potassium.
GUAVA & PAPAYA: Top awards for vitamin C. They are the clear winners for their high vitamin C content.. Guava is also rich in fiber, which helps prevent constipation. Papaya is rich in carotene; this is good for your eyes.
Drinking Cold water after a meal = Cancer! Can u believe this?? For those who like to drink cold water, this article is applicable to you. It is nice to have a cup of cold drink after a meal. However, the cold water will solidify the oily stuff that you have just consumed. It will slow down the digestion. Once this 'sludge' reacts with the acid, it will break down and be absorbed by the intestine faster than the solid food. It will line the intestine. Very soon, this will turn into fats and lead to cancer. It is best to drink hot soup or warm water after a meal.
A serious note about heart attacks HEART ATTACK PROCEDURE': (THIS IS NOT A JOKE!) Women should know that not every heart attack symptom is going to be the left arm hurting. Be aware of intense pain in the jaw line. You may never have the first chest pain during the course of a heart attack. Nausea and intense sweating are also common symptoms. Sixty percent of people who have a heart attack while they are asleep do not wake up. Pain in the jaw can wake you from a sound sleep. Let's be careful and be aware. The more we know the better chance we could survive.

A cardiologist says if everyone who gets this mail sends it to 10 people, you can be sure that we'll save at least one life.

ICC World Cup 2011 updates: Day 7

On the day 7 of the ICC World Cup, 2 matches were played. First match was between Australia and New Zealand at Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium, Nagpur, India. Australia won the toss and let the Kiwis to bat first.

Martin Guptill and Brendon McCullum opened the batting innings for the Kiwis. The start was pretty impressive for the Kiwis, but this did not last long when Brendon McCullum gave a catch to Jason Krejza and departed after scoring 16 runs from 12 deliveries. After this Kiwis started to loose wickets quickly. It lost 7 wickets in just 17 overs scoring only 73 runs, when all hopes faded Jamie How and Nathan McCullum put up some good partnership and so did Daniel Vettori. From 17 overs, they sustained till 45.1 overs and lost all 10 wickets. This was a good comeback for them and ended up scoring 206 runs in total. Mitchell Johnson took 4 wickets and Shaun Tait took 3 wickets that help Aussies to destroy Kiwis batting lineup.

Australia opened its batting innings with the openers Shane Watson and Brad Haddin. They both started off very well and put up half centuries scoring 62 and 55 runs with a partnership of 133 runs. After the fall of the openers, Ricky Ponting could not stay long enough to finish off the innings. Later Michael Clarke and Cameron White stood till the end and completed the required runs and returned back victorious. By 34 overs, Australia scored a total of 207 runs with the loss of 3 wickets.

Australia won the match by 7 wickets. Man of the match went to Mitchell Johnson for his brilliant bowling performance.

ICC World Cup 2011 updates: Day 5

On the day 5 of the ICC World Cup 2011, Pakistan and Kenya faced each other at Mahinda Rajapaksa International Cricket Stadium, Hambantota, Sri Lanka. Pakistan won the toss and elected to bat first.

Pakistan opened the batting innings with its openers Mohammad Hafeez  and Ahmad Shahzad. The start was very poor and Kenyans looked dominant. In first 6.5 overs, Pakistan struggled a lot and scored only 12 runs and lost its openers. After this fall, Kamran Akmal partnered with Younus Khan and put up a partnership of 88 runs that gave some boost to other players in the team. After the break of this partnership, few more good partnerships added much of score to the total. Kamran Akmal, Younus Khan, Misbah-ul-Haq and Umar Akmal  scored half centuries. After completing 50 overs, Pakistan landed up scoring a magnificent 317 runs in total for the loss of 7 wickets. Thomas Odoyo took 3 wickets for Kenya.

Kenya needed 318 runs to win the match. But this was an very difficult target as the opponents are one of the strongest teams in the world. Kenyans started off good but with lesser run rate than the required rate. First wicket fell in 1st ball of the 10th over, this shows that they were in a situation such that they had to start scoring because of the asking rate that kept on increasing. After the fall of 1st wicket, Kenya started loosing wickets in regular intervals. Only Collins Obuya showed some resistance to the Pakistani bowlers and some good knocks. He scored 47 runs that included 3 fours and 3 sixes. But the Captain Shahid Afridi bowled well  and took 5 wickets in his 8 over spell and more over his economy rate was just 2 runs per over. In 33.1 overs, Kenya lost all its 10 wickets and ended up scoring 112 runs.

Pakistan won the match by 205 runs. Man of the match went to Umar Akmal for his brilliant batting performance where he scored 71 runs in just 52 deliveries and he took a catch and one run-out.
