ICC World Twenty20 cup : West Indies out of semi-finals

West Indies played Australia yesterday at Beausejour Stadium, Gros Islet - St Lucia. This was a must win match for West Indies in order to get into semi-finals. West Indies won the toss & elected to bat to first.

Right from the start of the innings, West Indies were loosing wickets. Till Chanderpaul got out, West Indies looked to be in a very good position as their asking rate was around 8 runs per over. Things were getting worser & worser as they kept on loosing wickets in regular fashion. They could not stay till 20th over as all the 10 wickets fell in 19 overs. They scored only 105 runs where the run rate was just 5.53 runs per over. Almost all the bowlers were very economical on the Australian side. Steven Smith took 3 important wickets in which Kieron Pollard was the one among them.

Aussies gave a grand start with the openers David Warner & Shane Watson. Both played well but didn't last long, as they both got out in 3 & 3.1 over respectively. Australians lost only 4 wickets & chased the target successfully in 16.2 over. Sulieman Benn was the most economical bowler for West Indies whose economy was 3 rpo & took a wicket & also did a maiden over. Australians won the match by 6 wickets & they look very confident in lifting up this year's ICC World Twenty20 cup. Its time to say bye bye to the hosts who are out of the semi-finals.
