India looking to finish up the test series with 2-0

India and West Indies will be playing their 3rd and final test match today i.e, 6th July at Windsor Park, Roseau, Dominica. Indians are very eager to finish this last match in a grand style and looking forward to break the old jinx. On the other hand, West Indies who are having a bad time in Cricket are also looking to win this match so that they can draw the series.

As of now India is leading the series by 1-0 and are in a strong position to win the series. Even if the 3rd match ends up in a draw, India will win the series by 1-0. Indian skipper MS Dhoni is eyeing on this particular test match to end up in his favor. Meanwhile West Indies captain Darren Sammy says that he has found a way to get rid of the 2 Indians batsmen Rahul Dravid and VVS Laxman. In the last 2 matches, these 2 players have made the difference and helped India to be in a strong position. Now, its time to test what Sammy has come out with. We all shall just wait and watch the action. If it works then, India are in real trouble and i hope it doesn't happen.

First Test match: India vs West Indies

As of now, India are playing their second batting innings. They have already lost 8 wickets and have scored a total of 214 runs (IND - 214/8). They are leading West Indies by 284 runs. Only 2 more wickets to go. The Wall Rahul Dravid has again saved India by his lone battle against the homies. He is still unbeaten scoring 97 runs. Amit Mishra is also showing resistance against the bowling attack. Still its 3rd of the match and second session is going on. Long long way to go and Indians have already lost 8 wickets.

From West Indies point of view, taking another 2 wickets will not be a big deal. The big deal will be to chase the target of around 300 runs will be a big deal. They have to play very patiently and should not give wickets to India that easily. They have plenty of time, almost 2 days and 1 session are there to complete their chase.

If we see the first innings batting performance of the hosts, its very poor as they were all-out scoring only 173 runs. But my intuitions say that, if India fails to put more than 300 for chase, then Indians will have more chances of winning else West Indies will win the match. If you ask me, i will tell that match will never end up in a draw.

India tour of West Indies

India has toured West Indies, where they play 1 T20 match, 5 ODI matches and 3 Test matches. Out of these already 1 T20 match and 4 ODI matches are played. India have won the T20 match and also 2 ODI matches thereby clean sweeping the ODI series from West Indies. Now the 4th and 5th ODI match was to be played for pride.

As usual Team India was fielding first. In the first 3 ODI's India fielded first and won all the matches. But yesterday unusual happened when they faced West Indies at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, Antigua. West Indies played pretty decently to put up a total score of 249 runs loosing 8 wickets. Kieron Pollard and Lendl Simmons played some pretty decent knocks which brought them back in the game when they lost 5 wickets very badly.

India needed 250 runs to win the match, but this time things did not favor towards Indians. They started to feel the pressure and loose wickets. In just 39 overs, India were all-out scoring only 146 runs. West Indies won the match by 103 runs. Anthony Martin was main man behind this victory as he took 3 important and much required wickets for the team. After this ODI match, the series is 3-1. Though the series has already been won by India, its time for West Indies to win last match for pride.

It's Dhoni's day again

Today, First IPL finals qualifier match was played between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Chennai Super Kings at Wankhade stadium, Mumbai. The toss was won by MS Dhoni and he chose to field first.

Royal Challengers Bangalore was looking more destructive when Chris Gayle was on the crease, but today was not the day for the big man. He departed after hitting a six leaving RCB in jeopardy. Later on Virat Kohli added some magnificent runs and made RCB to put up a total of 175 runs on board.

This total was not a great one as the pitch was well known for hitting biggies. CSK in 19.4 overs, chased their target successfully. The man behind the win was Suresh Raina and Albie Morkel. In the 19th over, 3 sixes was the sole reason for RCB's loss. CSK won the match by 6 wickets and 2 balls to spare.

Now CSK are into the IPL 2011 finals. This is their 3rd entry to the IPL finals. RCB have lost the qualifier match, so now they have to face the winners of MI vs KKR match. If RCB wins, then RCB will face CSK in finals else, the winners from MI vs. KKR match will be facing CSK in finals.

IPL 2011: CSK vs KTK

Yesterday, a match was played between Chennai Super Kings and Kochi Tuskers Kerala at Nehru Stadium, Kochi. The match was delayed due to rain and later it was restricted to 17 overs. KTK won the toss and they chose to field first.

Michael Hussey and Murali Vijay opened the batting innings for CSK. Hussey did not play for long time as he departed after scoring only 8 runs. Suresh Raina came in and batted well to score a half-century. There were some good contribution from the middle order batsmen as well. In 17 overs, CSK put up a total score of 131 runs and lost 4 wickets (CSK - 131/4, 17 over). Vinay Kumar was economical bowler but did not pick up a any wickets.

KTK needed 134 runs to win by D/L method. Brendon McCullum and Mahela Jayawardena started the batting for KTK. The run rate at the start was pretty good. After the departure of the openers, Parthiv Patel, Brad Hodge, Ravindra Jadeja played magnificently and the eased the pressure off. In just 15 overs, they managed to score a total of 135 runs with the loss of 3 wickets (KTK - 135/3, 15 over). Ravichandran Ashwin picked up 2 wickets.

Kochi Tuskers Kerala won the match by 7 wickets. Man of the match was Brendon McCullum for giving a magnificent start which eased off the pressure to other batsmen.

This is KTK's second vistory in the IPL. Earlier they stunned Mumbai Indians by winning against them and now CSK. Chennai Super Kings got their second blow and in the earlier one, Paul Valthaty destroyed CSK's bowling attack by chasing one of the biggest total of the tournament.

IPL 4 begins

On 8th of April, IPL season 4 began. The first match was played between Chenni Super Kings and Kolkota Knight Riders at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai. The toss went into the favor of the hosts and they elected to bat first.

Aniruda Srikkanth and Murali Vijay opened the batting innings for the Chennai Super Kings. Murali Vijay did not perform as he departed after scoring only 4 runs. Suresh Raina came in to bat and put up a partnership of 75 runs which helped CSK to add up some good runs on board. After the departure of Raina, things slowed down and the run rate fell. Finally Chennai Super Kings managed to put up a total score of 153 runs on board for the loss of 4 wickets (CSK - 153/4, 20 over). Aniruda Srikkanth was the top scorer of the team who scored a magnificent 64 runs in 55 deliveries which included 6 fours and 2 sixes. Jacques Kallis managed to pick up 2 wickets for KKR.

Kolkota Knight Riders after restricting CSK to 153, opened its batting innings with the openers Manvinder Bisla and Jacques Kallis. The start was just rocking and they were just cruising in with runs. In the 9th over, CSK were back with the removal of Manvinder Bisla's wicket. This was the first blow for KKR. After the fall of the dangerous Yusuf Pathan and Jacques Kallis, KKR were in real trouble as the required kept on increasing rapidly. Even the skipper Gautam Gambhir could not break the jinx set by CSK. Manoj Tiwary in the 19th over hit 2 sixes which drastically reduced the asking rate. At one point of time, KKR required 9 runs from just 8 balls. But Manoj Tiwary did not maintain his calm and he got out by getting stumped by MS Dhoni. Soon Laxmi Shukla followed him. Finally KKR needed 4 runs in just 1 ball, Tim Southee bowled an magnificent yorker which restricted the batsman to settle with only 1 run. KKR ended up its batting innings scoring 151 runs for the loss of 7 wickets (KKR - 151/7, 20over). Skipper MS Dhoni made 3 stump outs and one run-out.

Apart from this, the only advantage Srilanka have is that they have a well balanced team. Their bowling performance is just brilliant so far. This is lacking in India side. But India has a luck factor with them.

Let us see, what happens in finals. My cheers will always be to India. India India....... Dhak Dhak go...... :-)

Yuraj Singh says that he taught of quitting cricket last year

As he had a series of injuries which led to his poor performance last year. He was not into the Indian ODI nor into the test team. He even showed poor performance in IPL-3 which led to few controversies. Now he admits that this was the worst situation that raised in his 10 years of cricketing. He even taught of quitting from cricket but his parents gave a strong support that he should continue his cricketing career.

Now he is into the World cup team that will be starting from 19th of Feb this year and he is very confident this time that he will show a good performance. He is also an part time spin bowler for the team as well. As this will be mostly the last World cup for Sachin Tendulkar, Yuraj Singh likes to make it a special World cup by winning it.

Warriors made it to the finals of the Champions League 2010

Yesterday, Warriors faced the Southern Redbacks in the second match of semi-finals at Centurion, Tshwane. Southern Redbacks have won all the four matches in the prelims and were looking strong and confident to win this match. On the other hand, Warriors have lost only one match in the prelims and are also looking to enter finals considering their good performances shown by them in the prelims. Warriors won the toss and they chose to bat first.

Davy Jacobs and Ashwell Prince opened the batting innings for the Warriors. Davy Jacobs took a single in the very first delivery of the match. Ashwell Prince got duck out by giving an easy catch to Daniel Harries. Warriors lost their first wicket in the second ball of their batting innings. This was supposed to be an bad start for them but Davy Jacobs and Colin Ingram played ultimately well. They both put up an partnership of 104 runs in just 74 deliveries. They just kept on hitting fours in each and every over. After the fall of Davy Jacobs and Colin Ingram, the Warriors were in trouble as they kept on loosing wickets and their run rate started to drop. While the last few deliveries were left, Nicky Boje came in to bat as they lost their 6th wicket. Nicky Boje played an magnificent innings as he quick-fired to score 22 runs in just 7 deliveries which included 2 fours and 2 sixes. This helped the Warriors to end up with a total score of 175 runs in 20 overs. Daniel Harris was the most economical bowler with an economy rate of just 4.5 runs per over and took 3 important wickets.

Southern Redbacks needed 176 runs to win the match if they want to enter in to the finals to face the Chennai Super Kings which will be played on Sunday. Southern Redbacks started their batting innings with the openers, Daniel Harris and Michael Klinger. They both gave a slow start as they don't want to loose any wickets and wanted to get well settled before going for some big shots. In the fourth over, they both got out which led them to enter in to an bad situation. They started to loose wickets in regular intervals which resulted in the drop of their run rate each time. By 20 overs, SRB managed to score only 145 runs with the loss of 7 wickets. Teams top scorer was Callum Ferguson who scored 71 runs 49 deliveries that included 8 fours and 2 sixes. Airtel Champions League

On Wednesday, IPL champions of the year 2010 Chennai Super Kings won the match against the warriors by 10 runs and entered the semi-finals. It was an very close match where the target given for the Warriors was just 136 runs. Chennai Super Kings failed to put up a very good total in that particular match as the batsmen fail to play well. But the bowlers especially the spinners bowled well in this particular match which helped them to restrict the Warriors to score only 126 runs in total. Due to this victory, Victorian Bushrangers lost their chance of getting into the semi-finals. Both Warriors and Chennai Super Kings have entered into the semi-finals from Group A.

In Group B, Southern Redbacks top the table by winning all the 4 matches and Royal Challengers Banglaore somehow made into the semi-finals after their second victory in this Champions League. Mumbai Indians, Highveld Lions and Royal Challengers all share same 4 points on the table. Due to the net run rate, Royal Challengers Bangalore found their place in the semi-finals. Now Chennai Super Kings from Group A will be facing the Royal Challengers Bangalore from Group B in the semis and Southern Redbacks will be fighting against the Warriors. This is the first time that an IPL team has entered the Champions League semi-finals and more over 2 teams has been entered in one shot. RCB facing CSK will be a very big match as they both are IPL teams. The first semis match between CSK and RCB will be played today at Kingsmead, Durban. The second semis between SRB and WAR will be played tomorrow at Centurion, Tshwane.

Being the die hard fan of the Royal Challengers Bangalore, i want my team RCB to win the match played against the CSK and make it to the finals.

Champions League Twenty20: CSK vs Warriors

Yesterday, Chennai Super Kings faced Warriors at St George's Park, Port Elizabeth. This was an very crucial match for both the teams in order to enter semi-finals of the Airtel Champions League 2010. Chennai Super Kings have to win this match to make them very comfortable at the first position. If CSK looses this match they will be walking out of the series. For Warriors the case is little different, even if they loose the match they still have chances of registering their berth in the semis. All they have to do is to loose the match in a close range so that their net run rate is just above the Victorian Bushrangers. For the Victorian Bushrangers luck has to play if they need to enter the semis. Either Chennai Super Kings should loose this match or Warriors should loose the match by a huge margin so that their net run rate falls below Bushrangers net run rate. The toss went in the favor of CSK side and they decided to bat first.

Michael Hussey and Murali Vijay came in to bat first from the CSK side and pretty decent start. They both put up a good partnership of 63 runs. Murali Vijay got out by getting bowled in Justin Kreusch's delivery. In this match Suresh Raina did not last long and he departed scoring just 6 runs. MS Dhoni came in to bat and played some knocks which added some good runs to the teams total. Michael Hussey scored his 50 runs from 39 deliveries that included 4 fours and a six. After the fall of Hussey, MS Dhoni took over and stayed till the end which helped the team to come out of some bad situation. Finally, CSK ended up scoring 136 runs in total with the loss of 6 wickets. Justin Kreusch took 3 important wickets with an economy rate of just 4.75 runs per over.

Warriors needed 137 runs to win from 120 deliveries. Davy Jacobs and Ashwell Prince opened the batting innings for the Warriors. They started off aggressively by playing some good knocks and soon Ashwell Prince got out but this did not affect much. The runs were coming in all the ways, till they lost Justin Kreusch. This was an important turning point for the CSK where the match started to turn towards them. CSK were looking very dominant and where back in the game. Warriors easily managed to get 109 runs which was the requirement for them to enter the semi-finals and they achieved it. But they failed to win the match against CSK. Warriors ended up scoring a total score of 126 runs with the loss of 8 wickets. Ravichandran Ashwin took 3 wickets with an economy rate of 6 runs per over. Man of the match was chosen as Michael Hussey for brilliant batting performance and fielding where he took 2 awesome catches.

After this superb match, now both the teams are eligible to play the semi-finals of the Airtel Champions League 2010. Luck did not play in the favor of Victorian Bushrangers and now they are out of the series.

Third Test match day 3: India vs Srilanka

In yesterday's play, Srilanka had lost 2 wickets scoring 39 runs in total. Openers for the team were got out. Today, Srilanka saw a very bad start as it lost 6 more wickets when their total reached 125 on board. Later there was a 9th wicket partnership which lasted for 38.4 overs. This partnership was between Thilan Samaraweera and Ajantha Mendis and each scored 83 runs and 78 runs respectively. It was an 118 runs partnership which a sigh of relief to the team. Finally India managed to take all the 10 wickets of the Srilankan team in the second innings. Srilanka landed up scoring 267 runs on board.

India needed 257 runs to win the match and to draw the series. But India lost 3 wickets in the quick succession where it managed to put up a total of only 53 runs for the day. After the loss of the third wicket, Ishant Sharma came in to bat for the fourth wicket partnering the Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar. At the end of the fourth day's play, Sachin Tendulkar and Ishant Sharma remained unbeaten scoring 11 and 2 runs respectively. One more day is remaining for the Indians to finish the game. Still India need 204 runs to win the match and to level the series by 1-1. But already it has lost 3 top order batsmen, So let's hope for the best that they will somehow manage to score the target and win the match.

Third Test match day 2: India vs Srilanka

Hi friends, i will be giving updates on the second of the third test match which is being played between India and Srilanka. At the start of the yesterday's play, Virender Sehwag completed his century. Sachin Tendulkar scored only 1 run in yesterday's play and got out in Lasith Malinga's delivery. Virender Sehwag also dismissed early, he departed scoring 109 runs. VVS Laxman and Suresh Raina helped the team to move closer to the target set by the Srilankan. Laxman got out after scoring 56 runs and Suresh Raina got out scoring 62 runs. After this break, India soon lost all its remaining 6 wickets and finished its innings. India had put up a total of 436 runs in first innings thereby leading Srilankans by 11 runs.

Srilanka opened its second innings with their openers Tharanga Paranavitana and Tillakaratne Dilshan. They both opened well but things changed when Virender Sehwag was brought into the attack. The play for the day was called off and Srilanka landed up scoring 45 runs in total and lost 2 wickets in the second innings. Let's wait n watch what happens to the remaining 8 wickets in today's play.

Some updates on Cricket

As we all know that Asia Cup is going to start from 19th of this month, top teams like India, Srilanka & Pakistan will be looking ahead win the cup in which pride comes into picture. Srilanka have shown some brilliant performances against India in recent days. Some of the great names where India is been struggling with are Dilshan, Angelo Mathews, Thilan Thushara & Lashith Malinga. On the other hand, Pakistan has also shown extra-ordinary performances which was given by the Akmal brothers. Now, Shoaib Akthar's entry to the team will definitely bring a lot of trouble to the other teams. Even Pakistan will be looking forward to clinch the title. Indians are also equally strong & have to tendency to destroy all these teams, but recent performances has not helped the team. Too many injuries has affected the team & also some of the great performers like Master blaster Sachin Tendulkar & Yuvaraj Singh will not be playing in this tournament. This is definitely might impact the teams, but on the other hand we can see some young player showing amazing performances such as Suresh Raina, Virat Kohli & so on.

Currently, South Africa is playing a test match against West Indies. Today is the 4th day of the match & the 4th innings is going on. As of now, West Indies need 305 runs to win the match. On 13th, India played Zimbabwe in the second Twenty20 match at Harare Sports Club, Harare. India won the toss & had put Zimbabwe to bat first.

IPL finals: Chennai Super Kings lift IPL 2010 cup

Today is the day where either Mumbai Indians & Chennai Super Kings dream of lifting the IPL cup comes true. They both faced each other in the finals of IPL edition 3 at DY Patil stadium, Navi Mumbai. Chennai Super Kings won the toss & bat first.

Chennai Super Kings started their innings very slowly, their run rate was below 6. Openers Murali Vijay & Mathew Hayden got out in 8th over & 9th over respectively. At this point of time, they had scored 47 runs from 8.4 overs. There was a good partnership between Suresh Raina & the skipper MS Dhoni which helped CSK to put up a highest first innings total in the history of IPL finals. Completing the 20 overs, Chennai Super Kings had put up total of 168 runs loosing 5 wickets. Suresh Raina was unbeaten scoring 57 runs from 35 deliveries which included 3 fours & 3 sixes.

Now the real pressure was on Mumbai Indians side, CSK looked little dominant after putting this good total.

Mumbai Indians started their chase with the openers Shikhar Dhawan & Sachin Tendulkar. Shikhar Dhawan did not stay long as he got out in the 2nd over, he did not score a single run. There was 66 runs partnership between Sachin & Abhishek Nayar. After this partnership, wickets kept on falling. But, Kieron Pollard played some big knocks which started to ease pressure. But he could not make it till the last over, as he got out in the last delivery of 19th over. This big blow gave the confirmation to the Chennai Super Kings that they will definitely win this IPL. After 20 overs, Mumbai Indians could make only 146 runs loosing 9 wickets. Thereby, Chennai Super Kings won the match by 22 runs & lifted the IPL 2010 cup. Again MS Dhoni has captained his team very well leading the team to victory.
Hope he again does the same in the upcoming World Twenty20 cup :-)

Mumbai Indians won by 5 wickets against CSK

Mumbai Indians played their home match against the Chennai Super Kings at Brabourne stadium. Skipper Sachin Tendulkar won the toss & elected to field first.
Chennai Super Kings lost two early wickets loosing Parthiv Patel & Mathew Hayden. But, Suresh Raina & Badrinath both played very well giving a partnership of 142 runs which gave a huge total for the CSK. Suresh Raina was unbeaten for 83 & Bardinath was also unbeaten for 55, thereby making a total of 180 in 20 overs loosing only 2 wickets.
Mumbai Indians started their innings very aggressively where Dhawan cruised to his 50 in 32 deliveries. Later on Mumbai Indians started to loose wickets but the run rate was very good. Sachin Tendulkar scored his 2nd half century in this IPL season 3, with his guidance finally Mumbai Indians reached their target by the end of 19 overs. Mumbai Indians won the match by 5 wickets.

Kings XI Punjab mark their first win in IPL-3

Finally Mohali team register their first win in IPL edition 3. Kings XI Punjab played their 4th IPL-3 match against Chennai Super Kings today at Chidambaram Stadium, chennai. Kings XI Punjab started to bat first, where they had put up a total score of 136 runs loosing 8 wickets. Only Yuvaraj Singh & Irfan Pathan played nicely scoring 43 & 39 respectively.
Chennai Super Kings started their chase of 137, gave a magnificient start to open the innings. Opening wicket partnership was 65 runs where almost half of the runs had been scored. Everything seems to be working well on CSK side, but it all went when Hayden (33) & Parthiv patel (57). Finally there was a situation for CSK needed just 1 run to win from 2 balls, but Pathan bowled brilliantly & took ashwin's wicket therefore levelling the score.

Finally there was a super over in this IPL, where i was so happy to watch it. I guess almost all would have were eager to watch the super over. CSK played their super over & scored 9 runs in 5 deliveries, the stat was 1 W 2 6 W. They din't play last ball as they had lost their 2 wickets. So Kings XI Punjab needed 10 off 6 deliveries, KXIP started their super over by a 6 hit hit by Jayawardhane, then loosing Jayawardhane's wicket in next delivery. Finally Yuvaraj Singh finished the match with a 4, stat was 6 W 0 4.Hence Kings XI Punjab marked their first victory in IPL-3.
